Details | In this article, we investigated how a message in Twitter which was funny and of little information value diffused rapidly and widely. Using a tweet by a first author that was retweeted about ten thousand times, we analyzed the speed of the message diffusion by the retweet and the range of the message. The speed of the tweet diffusion was accelerated by retweeting of several moderate active users and in parallel retweeting of users who had over ten thousand followers expanded range of diffusion. This phenomenon suggested the accumulative power of “ordinary influencers” who were enjoying consummatory conversation in diffusing a funny message of little importance. |
