概要 This chapter considers minority experiences across multiple minority groups in Japan. Individual identities are not necessarily singular. There can be intersections of multiple minority identities within an individual. In addition to this overlap for any given individual, there is the phenomenon of “Inter-Minority Conflict (IMC).” The presence of multiple minority groups, and possible conflict within individuals or among groups, is not a new phenomenon that has emerged recently. This study focuses on IMC, a new way of looking at minority issues, and provides background and context for understanding IMC in Japan that can be made more visible in the future.
