概要 How did Su Shi's philosophy and learning become popular to the extent that Zhu Xi was threatened by it? This is an inevitable question because, unlike the Cheng brothers and Zhu Xi, Su Shi did not propagate his philosophy to later generations by lecturing. I propose two answers to this question. First, Su Shi's poetic works, being supremely great, were able to serve both as the standard of composition during the revival of classical- style writing, and as models to be copied by the increasing number of examination candidates. Second, during the Northern Song, works published by the newly developing media became a shared platform for public discussion of poetry, and Su Shi became the“ darling of the media.”
