I love teaching at N.D.S.U. in Okayama. It's a small university where students have a chance to shine. If you come to study here, you'll be surprised by the small classes and friendly atmosphere. My favorite part of my job is working with the English Drama Club. I'm the director, and we put on two plays a year. We always have such a wonderful time together! Why don't you join us!

1. All of my courses are student-centered, with the teacher creating the opportunity for students to be speaking and interacting for the majority of the time. The Modern American Drama Seminar, is actually "taught" by the students themselves, who create the weekly study sheets and lead the class through the selected reading for the week. The teacher adds appropriate guidance from the sidelines.
1. I have created most of my own teaching materials, with the exception of the Freshmen Communication class, for which there is a textbook. However, in the Active English class, I also supply my own materials. My tailored syllabi include the Composition Class, Oral Communication for Juniors, and my Seminar in Modern American Drama.
I am interested in the development of the musical in Modern American Drama. In the early 20th century, song and dance was included in shows only for entertainment, but gradually, the musical aspects were used to propel the story and express deeper themes in a more immediate way than words could convey. In the musical Wicked, we focus on themes such Good vs. Evil, friendship, political oppression, mob mentality, body image, revenge, and love.
I teach Modern American Drama in my seminar class, as part of the International Communication stream. In interpersonal relationships, and intercultural relationships, people are constantly trying to connect with each other to be heard, to be accepted, to be understood. Drama is FULL of these stories and struggles. In books (in my seminar) and on STAGE (in the English Drama Club), students meet characters that teach us life’s lessons, through both tears and laughter.
