Details In this study, we focused on the impressions of students who had taken a course entitled “Basics of Expression With Various Themes,” which is an expressive dance class, to consider the ways in which students received the content that their instructors wanted them to learn. As a result, it was found that the shared learning of “exaggerated movements while remaining conscious of changes in the speed and twisting of the trunk” as well as “continuous movement involving the four forms, featuring changes with opposing movements” enabled students to experience the enjoyment and allure of expressive dance.
Moreover, it was found that because the four contents teaching the basic elements of expressive dance—“Let’s dance to the rhythm!”, “Dance-off!”, “Mirror world”, and “Expression using newspapers”—were arranged in an easy-to-follow order and featured points in common that were repeated in every lesson, some students felt more secure in the skills that they had gained.
