概要 The purpose of this study was to establish an increase model of soft tissue hardness non-invasively. Two tourniquet pressures, 120 mmHg and 230 mmHg, were used. The venous outflow ceased at a tourniquet pressure of both 120 and 230 mmHg. The arterial flow was interrupted at 230 mmHg, but continued at 120 mmHg. A larger increase of both the cross-sectional area and soft tissue hardness was found at 120 mmHg compared to 230 mmHg. In addition, there was a better correlation between the hardness and the cross-sectional area at 120 mmHg compared to 230 mmHg. These results suggest that low-pressure compression occludes the muscle venous outflow and induces an increase of the cross-sectional area that might in-crease the internal pressure, and this internal pressure increases tissue hardness.
